HBRE Group: Pioneering Wind Energy in Vietnam
Established in September 2010, HBRE Group has rapidly emerged as a leading force in the renewable energy sector in Vietnam. Driven by a passion for wind energy, Mr. Ho Ta Tin—the founder and Chairman of HBRE—recognized the potential for sustainable development and decided to invest in a field that was still largely uncharted in the domestic market at the time.
In 2014, when wind energy was still a relatively unfamiliar concept to many, Mr. Tin boldly took the initiative by launching the first wind farm project in the Central Highlands of Dak Lak. This project, with a capacity of 30MW and completed in 2019, not only marked a major success but also laid a solid foundation for HBRE’s future growth.
Building on this initial success, HBRE continued to expand with significant projects such as the HBRE Chu Prong Wind Farm (50MW), the HBRE An Tho Wind Farm (200MW), and the HBRE Ha Tinh Wind Farm (120MW). These projects have cemented HBRE’s position in the market and significantly contributed to the development of the renewable energy sector in Vietnam.
HBRE’s ambitions didn’t stop there. The company has expanded its vision to offshore wind energy with a project boasting a capacity of up to 1000MW. This marks a critical step, showcasing both the ambition and strategic vision of Mr. Ho Ta Tin and HBRE in tapping into Vietnam’s vast wind energy potential.
With nearly 500MW in total capacity from projects that have been implemented in remote and isolated regions across the country, HBRE has transformed the landscape of Vietnam’s wind energy sector. At the same time, HBRE has initiated a new investment cycle, attracting interest from both domestic and international investors.
Looking to the future, Mr. Ho Ta Tin and the HBRE team are nurturing even more ambitious projects, expanding beyond wind energy to other areas of renewable energy. HBRE has set a milestone for a new investment boom by 2030, aiming to contribute to Vietnam’s commitment to reducing fossil fuel consumption and achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050.
