HBRE Group: Pioneering Vietnam’s Clean Energy Transition
We didn’t just see the potential of wind energy in Vietnam; we acted on it when few others would.
Founded in 2010, HBRE Group was built on the conviction of our Chairman, Mr. Ho Ta Tin: that renewable energy wasn’t a temporary trend, but the inevitable future of our nation’s grid. At a time when the domestic wind market was largely unmapped territory, we chose to move first.
Proving the Concept, Scaling the Impact
In 2014, taking a bold step into the challenging terrain of the Central Highlands, we initiated Vietnam’s first wind farm in Dak Lak. Energized in 2019, that 30 MW facility was more than just a power plant—it was the proof of concept the industry needed.
That initial success laid a robust groundwork for our rapid, yet meticulously calculated, expansion. Through the HBRE Chu Prong (50 MW), An Tho (200 MW), and Ha Tinh (120 MW) projects, we didn’t just add megawatts to the grid; we built undeniable credibility. Today, with an operational and developing portfolio approaching 500 MW, we have proven our capacity to navigate complex technical, financial, and regulatory landscapes to turn blueprints into reality.
The Offshore Frontier
Looking forward, our focus extends beyond the coastline. HBRE is currently developing a highly ambitious pipeline of offshore wind projects with a total capacity of up to 3,000 MW. This is a strategic maneuver designed to unlock Vietnam’s vast marine wind resources.
We understand that offshore development at this scale demands rigorous execution—from comprehensive pre-feasibility studies to structuring bankable frameworks that work for international partnerships. It is a bold bet, but one backed by a decade of hard-earned expertise.
Beyond 2030
As Vietnam accelerates toward its 2050 net-zero commitment, HBRE Group remains steadfast in our founding mission. We are not simply a power developer; we are a team of pioneers and visionaries dedicated to transforming overlooked potential into the cornerstone of Vietnam’s sustainable future.
